Glossary
Terms particular to the Israelite doctrine, defined as this ministry uses them. Where a word is commonly misused elsewhere, the misuse is noted.
Baptised brethren
Those who have come through baptism and are therefore subject to the laws, statutes and commandments of the scriptures, and admitted to the holy days, services and feasts.
Coat of Arms
Established in 1998 from the book of Zechariah, showing the seven-branch candlestick between two olive trees.
Double Triangle
Two triangles, one inverted and imposed upon the other. The symbol borne on the ministry’s first flag, and taught as the symbol Moses used to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. It is woven into the centre of the lily on the present emblem.
First Testament / Second Testament
The Israelite terms for what the nations call the Old and New Testaments: thirty-nine books and twenty-seven books respectively.
Giving Thanks
A service of thanksgiving kept within the Israelite lifecycle.
Golden Emblem of Solomon
The emblem of the nation, established in 2015, composed of seven parts and set among the royal colours of Israel. See the entry under Our History.
HOIIO
The House of Israel International Organisation, the federally incorporated Canadian umbrella body under which the ministry operates, and its publisher. It is unrelated to any other organisation using a similar House of Israel name.
INWWM
The Israelite Nation Worldwide Ministries, founded and led by Elder Shadrock Porter, Master Teacher.
Israelite
The name reserved for the one who serves the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, keeping His laws, statutes and commandments, His Sabbath and His new moons, His feasts, His services and His ordinances, the circumcision and the baptism. Lineage alone does not confer it: a Jacobite is born, an Israelite is proved by the life. The door stands open also to the stranger of any nation who joins himself to the LORD and takes hold of the covenant, as Cornelius, Ruth and Rahab did (Isaiah 56:6–7; Ruth 1:16).
Jacobite
A descendant of Jacob, who was named Israel, by blood. The name of the lineage, borne by every child of the covenant line scattered through the transatlantic slave trade, whether he keeps the covenant yet or not, as distinct from the merely geographic label African. Descent gives you Jacobite; the life makes you an Israelite.
Master Teacher
The title of Elder Shadrock Porter, founder and leader of the ministry.
Most High, the
A scriptural title, not the Name. It denotes rank rather than identity, and scripture allows it to Balaam, to a Babylonian decree, and to unclean spirits (Numbers 24:16; Daniel 4:17; Mark 5:7; Acts 16:17). Every nation has a highest god. The ministry therefore uses the name given at the bush.
Nazarene
An early name for the Israelite followers of the Messiah, including the Nazarenes of North Africa who first rendered the scriptures into Latin.
New Egypt
The United States, identified by Elder Shadrock Porter as the antitype of ancient Egypt: the second house of bondage into which Israel was carried by ship.
Offering-Up
The presentation of a child on the eighth day, after the traditions of the forefathers.
Path of Truth
The way by which an enquirer enters and is guided up the steps to membership.
Pillar of Truth
The governing pillar at the border of Egypt, established today at Toronto, Canada, at the border of the New Egypt.
Remnant
The very small remnant of Israel (Isaiah 1:9) that awakens to the covenant in the appointed generation, few in number, standing where they were scattered rather than gathered to any land.
Royal colours of Israel
Blue, purple, scarlet and fine linen, after Exodus 26:1. The colours of the tabernacle, and of the nation’s flag and emblem.
Shem
The son of Noah through whom the covenant line of Abraham descends. The true Israelites are Shemitic; Ashkenaz and Togarmah are placed in the house of Japheth.
