The Feast of Dedication
The feast follows the altar. It is kept in the month in which the altar of the God of Israel was established in the place where the ministry stands.
The Feast of Dedication holds a particular significance in this ministry because it is tied not only to the calendar but to the physical place in which the altar has been established.
The ministry has moved several times. Each time it settled in a new location, the Feast of Dedication was kept in the month corresponding to when the altar was established there. In an earlier period the congregation moved into a building in December, and the feast was kept in December. When the ministry left that building, the December observance ended with it. The feast follows the altar, not the month.
The ministry has stood at 202 Bentworth Avenue for some sixteen years. The congregation moved in during the summer, in the month of Ab, and it is there that the active altar dedicated to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob presently stands. The Feast of Dedication is therefore kept in Ab, as a perpetual acknowledgement that this house and this altar belong to Him.
202 Bentworth is at present the only location of the ministry holding an active altar. The Feast of Dedication was formally established in the ministry’s observance in 1997.
